Drew East | Worship Pastor

ROCKED… by God’s reality shattering grace! His life giving love! His freedom inducing Spirit! His hope stirring sacrifice!

There is no love like God’s, and there is no fuller joy than what is found in Christ alone. It is Drew’s passion to come alongside his brothers and sisters of iLLUMINATE to increasingly embrace the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love and His immeasurable greatness! Worship is not a song. But may we hear the majestic song of the Almighty in all that we do and see. May we join with creation in His praise, growing to pour ourselves out in love just like Jesus. Drew was born and raised in Central Cali. He has a Certificate of Worship Leadership from Mid America University, a BA in Christian Studies from California Baptist University, and an MA in Christian Ministry Leadership from Liberty University.

// WHY YOU LOVE iLLUMINATE:

I have never met a more authentic bunch of people. And I think that’s the only way we can really seek Jesus… when we all realize that we’re not all that and a bag of potato chips. We are unique, sort of crazy, and beautifully flawed humans who need the gracious love of our Savior.

// FAVORIATE PLACE TO EAT:

In-N-Out Burgers… For the love of Columbus and the Santa Maria we need an In-N-Out in Orlando. Chipotle burritos, Chili’s Honey Chipotle Chicken, Panda Express Orange Chicken, anything my wife cooks (I don’t know if she cooks with love potion or something, but everything tastes better when she makes it)… and I like everything else but sushi and spam because Stuff Posing As Meat should be against the law.

// WHEN I RELAX I:

I love hanging out with my family and friends. I read fiction… dystopian fiction is my favorite… Any Red Rising fans out there? All my fellow Howlers say, “Break the Chains!” — I also like movies and TV shows. I really enjoy exercising… it’s not relaxing… but it helps me relax later.

// MOVIES THAT CHANGED MY LIFE:

Tommy Boy taught me that if I laugh really hard for an extended period of time I get a bad headache… but’s it’s totally worth it. Braveheart makes me realize just how much I thirst to truly live and and detest merely existing… Deep down, I think this is true for everyone. That Thing You Do, August Rush, Sing Street and movies like them taught me the value of inspiration when I’m writing music or doing anything creative. Love the inspiration I feel when I watch these flicks.

// ONE PLACE I’D LOVE TO GO:

I want to go everywhere… Europe would be amazing to see. But the place I want to see above all the Promise Land (biblical sites). I want to be able to stand in the Valley of Elah where David slew Goliath, and stand on Golgatha where Jesus was crucified for our sins. I believe I would experience the Word in a more powerful way if I saw these places.

// I’M AFRAID OF:

Spiders… they’re just creepy. And the Conservation (Florida nature area) that is currently my backyard. There’s no telling what kind of possessed creatures are in that jungle… Okay, so I might let my imagination get carried away sometimes.

Cole Arnold | Creative Director

Cole has lived in Florida his whole life. He’s grown up in church, and was saved at a very young age. He has a passion for serving in the church, and loves having the ability to do just that on a regular basis. From a young age, he became captivated with still and motion design. He quickly started learning, and fell in love with being able to convey emotions and stories through the designs and videos he created. He joined the illuminate team in August of 2012, and has loved every minute of it. He works as the Creative Director, leading Sunday morning production, web, social media, and all print and video promotions. He loves having the ability to create experiences that will connect people on a deeper level with Christ. He also really enjoys writing about himself in the third person. : )

// WHY YOU LOVE iLLUMINATE:

I love illuminate church, because I get to be a part of a family bigger than my personal family. A family I can do life with. Ups, downs, and everything in-between. A family where I am challenged on a daily basis to grow farther in my walk with Christ.

// FAVORIATE PLACE TO EAT:

This could honestly go on for a while. Really anyplace with good burritos or tacos. Good burgers are a close second.

// WHEN I RELAX I:

Anything that involves getting something done. There’s nothing better to me than that feeling you get after finishing a book, long run, or really just creating anything. I guess you could say I relax most when I feel like i’m accomplishing something.

// MOVIES THAT CHANGED MY LIFE:

Super 8, The Dark Knight Rises, The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Zero Dark Thirty.

// ONE PLACE I’D LOVE TO GO:

Iceland, hands down. Have you seen that place? Seriously, go Google some pictures of Iceland and tell me that’s not on your list of places to visit.

// I’M AFRAID OF:

Squirrels, super dark places, & loosing my lucky pair of converse,
